Tek to announce retirement on Thursday

Rumors wandering around about Pedroia inheriting the C.

The Sox have reportedly offered Varitek a contract.

The contract is a quasi-two year deal:

One year, $5MM guaranteed with a second year option for either $5MM if the Sox pick it up or $3MM if Varitek picks it up.

There is an alleged, but unknown deadline on the offer.
